Time has a way of slipping past, doesn't it? Yesterday I was wondering if we were ever going to get out of the "red" when I looked at a weather map! Happily, we are starting to don our long-sleeved shirts and vests, maybe even a jacket, when stepping out in the morning chill. Nice change, don't you think? My only personal regret is that the days grow shorter in daylight and I seem to want to "hit the hay" long before my work is caught up!(LOL!)

While those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are complaining of the heat of the summer months and rushing around with our children who are readjusting to their respective schools, the Socias of the Artesania in Manazo, Peru, have been weathering one of the coldest winters on record in their Country!

Wow! Is there anyone else out there that is having trouble grasping the reality that it's 2009? Didn’t we just celebrate the New Millennium? I hope I’m not the only one trying to figure out where the last 8 years went! Whew!

December 20,2008 we will hold our first sale in Asheville at St.Eugene Catholic Church from 10am to 5pm. This is the first time for people in the Asheville area to see our wonderful garments. These garments make very special Christmas presents. Come and see these unique and luxurious alpaca sweaters.

The ladies in Peru work in a building over 20 years old constructed by the townspeople. It is in serious need of electrical and flooring renovations. We need $4,000 to make the repairs. Well, here it is, August 2008 already and the Artesania is entering the final preparations phase of our annual Alpaca Sweater Sale, for which we are becoming famous! I can tell you with great certainty; our Ladies in Peru are VERY busy putting the final touches on the order and getting the shipment(s) ready for export. That means that there is much work to do in the United States as well and the “vacation is indeed over!” We are expecting some new models this year so prepare to be impressed!

Since it has been a few months since I’ve posted any new articles, I would like to take this opportunity to recap a few events.

To bring you up to date, the total sales for 2007 exceeded $60,000.00 in revenue for the Ladies, making 2007 the best year ever! This success is entirely due to you, the people of the participating parishes, your friends, and of course the Holy Spirit.

There is definitely something “splendorous” about the mountains of North Carolina! During our annual Sweater Sale at St. Elizabeth of the Hill Country Church on Pilgrims Way, Steve (Ringrose), Yuri (Romero) and I were treated to the magnificent display of God’s handiwork in the colors of the leaves and trees painting the mountains surrounding the busy little town of Boone, North Carolina, while we sold the equally beautiful handiwork of the ladies of the Artesania Pachamama in Peru.
